Expiration Date Labeling

A mandatory requirement for products with a shelf life (food, supplements, topicals), where the expiration date must be clearly visible on the unit and the master carton.

Amazon’s Strict Expiration Rules

If you sell anything that can expire, Amazon is very particular. The date must be in a specific format (usually MM-DD-YYYY or DD-MM-YYYY) and must be printed in a large, readable font (at least 36pt). If the date is only on the product but not on the outer FBA label, your shipment will be rejected.

Automating the Date Addition

Manually stamping dates on every product is a massive time sink. A better way is to include the expiration date directly on your FNSKU label. This way, when you scan the product, the scanner sees the FNSKU and the human sees the date””all in one place.

  • Required for all grocery, beauty, and supplement items.
  • Must be visible during the receiving process at the warehouse.
  • Failing to label correctly leads to "expired" inventory disposal.
