Glossary Term

FFP (Frustration-Free Packaging)

An Amazon certification for packaging that is easy to open and ready to ship without an extra shipping box.

Packaging Built for E-commerce

Standard retail packaging is designed to look good on a shelf and prevent theft (like those hard plastic clamshells). FFP is different. It’s designed by Amazon to be easy to open and 100% recyclable. No wire ties, no hard plastic””just easy access for the customer.

Ships In Own Container (SIOC)

The best part about FFP for sellers is that Amazon doesn't put your product inside another box. Your product's box *is* the shipping box. This saves a lot on shipping materials and can even lower your FBA fees because the total package size and weight are reduced.

  • Reduces packaging waste.
  • Lowers shipping and storage costs.
  • Improves customer reviews (no 'wrap rage').

Labeling for FFP

Since the product box is the shipping box, you have to be careful with label placement. You don't want to cover up your beautiful brand logo or important safety information. Amazon has specific rules about where the shipping label must go on an FFP-certified box.

Environmentally Friendly

Amazon is pushing FFP hard to reach their climate goals. By using less cardboard and tape, they save millions of tons of waste. Sellers who switch to FFP often find it's a win-win: it's better for the planet and cheaper for the business.
