Country of Origin (COO)
A mandatory labeling requirement for international trade that identifies the country where a product was manufactured, produced, or grown.
Why COO Labeling is Mandatory
Customs laws in almost every country, including the USA, require the Country of Origin to be clearly marked on every product and its packaging. If you are importing goods from China, Vietnam, or Turkey to sell on Amazon, each individual unit must say "Made in [Country]." Failing to do this can result in seized shipments or heavy fines from Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
Amazon FBA and COO Requirements
Amazon expects sellers to comply with all federal laws. If your FBA shipment is inspected and lacks COO markings, it might be rejected or held. While some manufacturers print this directly on the box, many sellers need to add this information during the prep phase.
- Must be in English (for US markets).
- Must be legible and permanently affixed.
- Required for both the product and the outer shipping carton.
